First time
here?
We hope to see you soon for your
first time as a guest at PlentyValleyChurch. If
you’d like to get along to one of our
services, you will be most welcome! Check the
Find Us tag of the front page for directions to
the church locations
What to expect at our
services We understand that you may have a
few questions about PlentyValleyChurch in
making your decision whether or not to visit in
person. Here are some questions we are commonly
asked about our
services.
1. Where and when do
you meet? Our main gatherings
are every Sunday 10am and monthly at 5pm at
MillPark. C
heck the home page for service times. We have
other locations so se the Find Us tag on the main
Page. These We also have a youth program that
meet on Friday nights.
2. What should I
wear? We are a contemporary church and
dress in a contemporary manner. Most dress fairly
casually but neatly to reflect that we value
meeting together with one another and honouring
God. Our pastor will not be in
robes.
We are more concerned about you
being comfortable and relaxed than the clothes you
wear. Many members of PlentyValley spend
their working week in suits and ties and as such
prefer to dress more casually on Sundays. Of
course, if you do want to wear a suit or your
“Sunday best”, feel free but it is
certainly not
required.
3. What do you
do? We believe your relationship with
God is important. While “religion”
often carries a connotation of robes, holy water
and a pipe organ, you will not find those at
PlentyValleyChurch.
;We endeavour to present our church services in a
creative and fresh way that encourages you on your
journey to know God.
Our services have contemporary
music with a live band and relevant
teaching.
If you have children, “Planet
Kids” will ensure they are well looked after
and have a fun time (see question 7
below).
Weekly we celebrate holy communion.
This is simply a time to remember the sacrifice of
Christ by taking bread and wine. Any person who
genuinely believes that Christ died for them and
has decided to follow Jesus can take communion
with us. If you are not a Christian, there is no
embarrassment to not take the bread and wine and
only observe this beautiful part of the
service.
Our services also include an
opportunity to give financially, which we call
tithes and offerings. Make sure you read the next
question…
We may also include an opportunity
for anyone who would like to begin their journey
to being a Christian. A Christian is simply a follower
of Christ. Please read question 6 for more in
this regard.
We are also privileged to have
guest speakers in many fields from across the
globe speak at PlentyValleyChurch from
time to time. For details see the home page of
this website.
4. Do I have to give
money? Giving tithes and offerings is for
those who are part of the PlentyValleyChurch
family, and it is something we love to do as a
reflection of our love for God and His
church.
You are our guests. If you wish to
give, you may, but there is complete freedom to
abstain from giving if you are not comfortable
with that.
5. What is the music
like? PlentyValleyChurch
is a contemporary church with contemporary style
music.
While we value our Christian heritage, which
includes songs from the centuries before, we
appreciate that different people like different
types of music.
Our band is made up of skilled
musicians and vocalists who lead the church with
passion and energy. You will enjoy this time in
the service!
During the music time, many people will stand and
sing. This is a way that some people like to
express themselves. If you feel comfortable, feel
free to join in or simply stay seated and just
enjoy the music.
6. Do I have to do
anything? You are our valued guest. Please
sit back, relax and enjoy your time with us.
Usuallya host or hostess will assist you with
seating, answer questions and show you where the
amenities are located. After the service, if you
can, please stay on for a few minutes to enjoy a
coffee or tea, light refreshments. We will give
you a free information pack. If you are happy to
let ustake your details we will keep in touch
with you about church events or information that
will be relevant and of assistance to you. If you
are not comfortable with leaving details
that’s fine
too.
In some of our services we will
provide the opportunity for people to begin the
journey to become a Christian. A Christian is
simply a follower of Christ. At the end of most
services, we will invite anyone that would like to
begin this journey to indicate their decision by
raising their hand. We will pray with you inviting
Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come into
your life. If you have made that commitment for
the first time, we will give you some literature
and encourage you to continue your journey in
coming to know Christ by meeting with a Christian
friend or mentor to encourage
you
7. What about my
kids? If
you have kids, we have a great program that run
through the
services.
Each Sunday during school terms,
kids in primary school age join our team of
enthusiastic Planet Kids workers for lots of fun,
laughs, interactive games and bible-based lessons.
All workers follow safety protocols to ensure
children left in our care are
safe. If you have any questions or need
directions, please ask one of our hosts and they
will be glad to
help.
8. How long does the
service go for? We appreciate that Sundays are a
valuable day in your week. All of our services are
1 1⁄2 hours or
less.
In the unusual event we are
required to go later than expected, please feel
free to quietly leave the auditorium — we
will not be
offended.
9. Do I need a Bible
or anything? All you need is
you!
We believe in the Bible and our
speakers use it as the foundation for teaching. If
you have a Bible and would like to bring it,
please feel free, but it is certainly not
expected.
In saying that, if you do not have
a Bible and would like one, please ask one of our
hosts and they will give you a Bible at no cost as
a momento of your visit with Plenty Valley Church
which we encourage you to
read.
The Bible is a holy text broken
into different books, with each book having
different chapters and each chapter having
different verses. If you have not read the Bible
before, we suggest you read the book of Luke first
— it is one of the four
“gospels” (being Matthew, Mark, Luke
& John) written describing the life of
Christ. If you’d like to know more
about becoming a follower of Christ, speak to one
of the pastors,
You’re
welcome!
It is our hope that your
online experience will give you a taste of who we
are and why we love PlentyValleyChurch and
our community here. If you have any other
questions, please let us know by email (john@pvcoc.org.au) or giving us a call on 03 9437
7016.
Most importantly, if you choose to
visit with us in person, we expect you to do
nothing more than sit back and enjoy your
experience at PlentyValleyChurch.
